  • Acceptability of Wind Energy, Carbon Capture Storage, and Climate Change: Worldviews and Economic Interests.  (2012). Grant funded by the Center for International Climate and Environmental Research – Oslo. Award: $17,500. Co-PI with Todd Cherry (Economics). Testing psychological and environmental predictors of public attitudes toward alternative energies.

  • Multi-Mode Chesapeake Bay Menhaden Survey. (2010). Grant funded by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Award: $51,415. PIs: Todd Hartman (Government & Justice Studies); Tanga McDaniel (Economics); John Whitehead (Economics). Representative telephone survey of 766 residents of Virginia and Maryland. Assess public awareness of and attitudes toward the environmental and economic impact of overfishing in the Chesapeake Bay.

  • Conceptualizing Immigration. (2010). PI: Todd Hartman (Government & Justice Studies). Nationally representative telephone survey of 275 American adults. Assess public attitudes toward legal and undocumented immigrants, as well as immigration policy, using survey-embedded experiments.

  • Rural Economic Opportunity: Barriers, Resources, and Best Practices. (2009-2010). Grant funded by the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center. Award: $100,000. PIs: Todd Cherry (Economics); Richard Crepeau (Geography & Urban Planning); Todd Hartman (Government & Justice Studies); Michael McKee (Economics); Jammie Price (Sociology). Representative telephone survey of 763 North Carolina residents. Identify households in economic distress, as well as the primary causes of financial difficulties in the state.
